FBXL21 association with schizophrenia in irish family and case–control samples
AssociationN=3,639Chen X. et al.(2008)· American Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics

This family and case-control association study examined FBXL21 gene variants in relation to schizophrenia in Irish populations. In the Irish study of high density schizophrenia families (1,350 subjects), rs31555 showed the strongest association (PDT P = 0.0011). In the independent case-control sample (814 cases, 625 controls), rs1859427 and rs6861170 showed significant associations (P = 0.0197 each), and the C-T haplotype at these two markers was overtransmitted in families (P = 0.0437) and over-represented in cases (P = 0.0177).

About EIF1AY

This gene is located on the non-recombining region of the Y chromosome. It encodes a protein related to eukaryotic translation initiation factor 1A (EIF1A), which may function in stabilizing the binding of the initiator Met-tRNA to 40S ribosomal subunits. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]
